Racer,
To date there are only four (4) motor-scooter pre-entries:
Class I (50cc to 100cc)
No Entries
Class II (101cc to 175cc)
Arlene Battishill / CSC 150cc
Andrew Marquez / TBA 175.8cc
Alan Spears / Gilera 175.8cc Runner
Class III (176cc to 300cc)
Stan Scott / Honda 250cc Helix
Class IV (301cc to 650cc)
No Entries
Class V (651cc to 850cc)
No Entries
Sidecar
No Entries
Bill Murar's motorcycle "Loopers" number seven (7) at the moment, all of them in the 250cc Class. Six Kawasaki Ninjas, and one 2012 Honda CBR250R! He has set the pre-entry/entry cut-off date at April 15th.
Unfortunately our trophy supplier will not guarantee delivery of trophies and plaques so close to the event date. So, we're going to make it easy on ourselves and set a drop-dead entry/document cut-off date of Midnight, Friday, March 3rd 2012. This will afford us adequate time to order all needed trophies and plaques at one time, with enough wiggle-room to make corrections as we invariably have to do.
We need fifteen (15) pre-paid entries to break even with insurance and trophies. If we do not have the requisite minimal number of entries by the cut-off time/date, the race will be called, and Paypal refunds will be promptly processed. Sorry, but this is the way it must be.
If the race is called, and your scooter displaces no more than 250cc, you can enter and race with the "Loopers" under their sanction and Rules. If you haven't already, you should seriously consider closely following motorcycle developments as regards the race at: therealcannonball.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=motorcycles; www.therealcannonball.org/; and sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/TRCTD/messages, because this may be your Plan "B".
Please believe me when I tell you we would love nothing more than to process the requisite minimal number of entries immediately and get about the business of ordering trophies, plaques, event souvenirs, and generally touting the race.
In any event, this is my rant for the day. This edict will, unfortunately stand. Capt. Laurito has generously donated a Thousand Dollar prize for 1st Place Overall. Gee-Wizz! Where else can you trash yourself and your scooter and perhaps win a grand for doing it?
Please consider entering now if you truly intend to race. You may enter The Real Cannonball at www.motorscooterlandspeedfederation.org/. In fact, this is the one and only place you may pre-enter/enter. I sincerely hate to see this race go to Hell in a handbasket because I may run over it on Highway #190 at the next Hell's Loop.
Cheers,
Alan
