There have been myriad inquires on other forums as regards the difference between The Real Cannonball and www.scootercannonball.com. To avoid any confusion I use the following disclaimer on my Facebook page:
Please Note: The Real Cannonball ~ World’s Most Extreme Endurance Race, sanctioned by Motor-Scooter International Land-Speed Federation www.motorscooterlandspeedfederation.org, and Lake Erie Loop www.lakeerieloop.com, is not affiliated with www.scootercannonball.com, an 8-day timed/scored “rally” held in even-numbered years in which riders take eight (8) days to complete this event, making nightly stops in designated motels, and in which "articipation is limited to scooters with an engine displacement not more than 250cc".
Here's the real distinction between The Real Cannonball and http://www.scootercannonball.com: From the blogs I’ve read about scootercannonball, the majority of riders participate in that event to enjoy the cross-country scenery and camaraderie. I applaud these riders for their tenacity. Based on the defamatory rhetoric on this and other forums in months past, I realize there’s an inner group of self-perceived racers in the scootercannonball rally -- not one of whom has the balls to challenge MSILSF extreme endurance racers in The Real Cannonball ~ World’s Most Extreme Motor-Scooter Endurance Race!

The revised entry list is attached for your perusal. Brock had seven "teams" finish in 1971. I attribute the modest number of entries to our "one rider/one scooter" Rule. It probably gave a lot of wanna-bees a harsh reality check about their skill set and the level of preparedness required for our event. Please Note: The Real Cannonball, sanctioned by Motor-Scooter International Land-Speed Federation, is not affiliated with www.scootercannonball.com, an 8-day timed/scored rally in which " articipation is limited to scooters with an engine displacement not more than 250cc" held in even numbered years.
