My Alpinestars ST Vented Boots are awesome, but they're kinda heavy. The flare at the top is not particularly conducive to straight leg Levis being pulled down over them. Tucked-in pantlegs doesn't work in light drizzle. So I came up with the following combination that addresses weight, cold and rain. These socks are awesome. They're so heavy (and comfortable) they require one full shoe size larger to accommodate them. Check them out at: usa.heatholders.com/collections/mens/products/mens-skiMy plan is to wear the "ski" socks for the start of the race, changing to the "long" ones at the first major pit/rest stop. I'll ditch the HeatHolders altogether as the temp rises in Oklahoma. These velcro closure Fila hi-tops are very light, extremely comfortable, and quickly donned/removed. The come in at least two grades: leather with perforated synthetic panels, and all leather. www.amazon.com/Fila-Class-Triple-Stylish-Sneakers/dp/B004VVJCNA/ref=pd_sbs_shoe_3I've used NEOS Villager Overshoes for years. They're ultra-light, rugged, keep your feet dry, and are easily stored. Pricing varies, and it pays to shop before purchasing. www.overshoesonline.com/vis1/NEOS-Villager-Overshoe.htm?gclid=CM2B9cHNm7QCFaN_Qgod8GUA4gAttachments:
