My infamous “No Buy” List! More worthless drivel about those who pretend to be marketing directors of the corporations who want to sell us the high-ticket products we need to go extreme endurance racing. Marketing my ass! You can’t fix stupid!
What's on MY mind? Numero Tres on the infamous "No Buy" List, the editorial staff of Car and Driver Magazine. Reason: Failure to acknowledge The Real Cannonball ~ World's Most Extreme Endurance Race, the progeny of Brock Yates' "Cannonball -- Sea-To-Shining-Sea Memorial Trophy Dash". Screw them, and their magazine, which lands them on the podium for a 3rd Place on THIS racer's "No Buy" List!

Scootermeister Spears: The infamous "No Buy!" List. Numero Dos goes to Craig Hood, President/CEO, Allegro Medical, also for corporate arrogance, and inundating me with spam.

Scootermeister Spears: Congrats PAUL COLLINS, President/CEO of GIVI USA. You are the first person/company to make the “No Buy” List! You’re an arrogant ass for not responding to two e-mails regarding sponsorship that included photos of the Gilera’s GIVI tail-bag containing a 1.6 US Gallon Acerbis tail tank.

Scootermeister Spears: What's on MY mind. Terminal stupidity! Fourth place on the infamous “No Buy” List is cheerfully jointly awarded to Sarah Driscoll, Marketing Director of Barbour, UK, and Helen Fletcher, Marketing Director of Barbour USA. Stupid is, as stupid does. If you look up at the pix/banner at the top of this Facebook page, I'm the oaf on the extreme right clad in a waxed cotton Barbour International Trials Jacket. I've been wearing these jackets since the mid-sixties! I e-mailed Barbour UK, where they're made, to supply me a large size so I could layer. I asked them to comp it or sell it to me at distributor cost for The Real Cannonball. Sarah Driscoll, in turn, sent my e-mail to Helen Fletcher, who told me to pound sand. I'm trying to imagine an event more significant in which Barbour could tout its products. I can't. So, after nearly a half-century (YIKES!!!), Barbour has lost a dedicated customer for their US$450.00 jacket. Please boycott Barbour!
From Helen Fletcher, Director of Marketing, Barbour USA: "Hi Alan … Thank you for reaching out and considering Barbour for your upcoming tour. I oversee the Barbour promotional, advertising and public relations activities here in the US for Barbour. Unfortunately, we are unable to fulfill your request as all monies for promotional activities are accounted for in 2013. Best of luck in your adventures, and please let me know if you have any further questions."

Scootermeister Spears: I have had continuous Iridium satellite service since 1997, even during the time the satellites were supposedly being deactivated. That, of course, was total bullshit! Anyway, 5th Place on the "No Buy" List goes to Ashley Eames for not following up as regards my sponsorship request. Having spent upwards of US$8,000.00 for Iridium satellite equipment and service, I was at least entitled to an answer. I have the answer: Fuck you, Ashley Eames! Iridium has earned its place on the "No Buy" List!

Scootermeister Spears: Thank you Kim Stiver, Marketing Director at Delorme, for not having the wherewithal to put a Delorme inReach SE in my hands a week before its release. It's hard to imagine your R&D/Tech people not having a functioning unit they could spare because they've all been loaned out to the magazines. So, Ms. Stiver, Delorme has joined the ranks of my "No Buy" List. Delorme’s competitor, SPOT Satellite GPS, is spot-on! At least Ms. Stiver made the overture of pretending to be of assistance –short of directing tech support to send an activated “SE”. Sixth place nevertheless! 21APRIL2013@19:05PDT
